Section 179 Tax Write Off Reminder

If you’ve been considering new diagnostic equipment, now is the time. Thanks to Section 179, businesses can deduct the full purchase price of qualifying equipment placed into service before December 31, 2025.

This means the scan tools, laptops, ADAS equipment, or support hardware you buy this year may reduce your taxable income this year—rather than being depreciated slowly over time.

Why It Matters

• Immediate tax savings on equipment you’re already planning to use.

• Most diagnostic tools and shop equipment qualify.

• Both purchases and qualifying financed equipment typically qualify, as long as the equipment is placed into service in 2025.

• Section 179 can significantly offset the cost of upgrading your technology, improving workflow, and preparing your shop for the year ahead.

Before the deadline approaches, talk with your tax professional to confirm how Section 179 applies to your business.

SUPPORT WE DIDN'T SELL YOU

Connected Automotive Systems is one of the best in the business when it comes to support, and that's the focus we will capitalize on to expand upon going forward.

Our 2026 motto is:

"We are the thought leader and support expert

dealing with OEM factory scan tool."

Whether you've got legacy tools or modern tools, we know how they work and can provide assistance, and that doesn't change just because you bought them somewhere else.

Our Support Structure revolves around keeping your tools updated, running, and functionally working to their full capabilities to serve you.

To achieve this goal, we have three programs in place:

  • Loaner Program - If you break your tool, we'll send you one of ours until we can repair it and ship yours back to you. This is a no added cost service when you are under our TAS plan.

  • EZ Remote Programming - Some of your tools (iScan-3. iScan-NX, Zenith 3, Zenith 5, Zenith 7) have Support-On-Demand and Remote-Support options built into them, letting you connect to our ASE certified technicians, if you need a programming service performed.

  • Total Annual Support (TAS) - A 3-level tiered support system that involves our technical sales reps and our in-house tech support team to address your problems when they occur.

If you need technical support, training on tools you already own or someone to manage your tool's subscriptions and renewals, we are available! To explore all we can offer with our TAS program, call our sales line at 1-877-263-4897.

Backroom Monthly Special: DRB-3 Refurb Kit

GOING. . GOING. . ( Almost ) GONE!

A DRB3 Refurb Kit ?:
It seemed crazy at first, offering a refurb kit for the old Chrysler factory tool but we keep getting inquiries from shops asking for a DRB-III, often times because their DRB3 is broken. Calls from both independent shops and franchised dealerships along with DIY's that own a classic Chrysler.

Years ago, repair service on the DRB-III was discontinued, at that time CAS contacted the DRB-3 repair department and was able to purchase all their inventory of repair parts, hundreds of parts. And over the years we have been offering repairs on this tool when no one else would. But stock is dwindling down, and we thought we would offer a 'Refurb' kit that contains all the common components that a tired DRB-3 could use to be kept in service. Things like the final and latest DLC cable, a new keyboard, a new screen overlay, new cooling fan, and even the dust filter for the fan are all part of this kit.

We only have 4 of these bundled kits still available.

When they are sold, there will be no more!

You can purchase one of these kits and do the refurb work yourself, or you can buy a kit and ship your DRB-3 into our repair department and we'll install all the parts. Take my word for it, with years of experience the CAS repair guys are experts at doing this work.

PS: If you are a Chrysler car collector, adding this tool to your classic vehicle inventory will also add value to the car when you eventually decide to sell it. Including the OEM scan tool with the car is a great idea!

Tech Tip -  Flash Reprogramming Help - 669 calls logged

Our second Tech Tip in our top 5 Tech Tip calls is about Flash Reprogramming Help.

Flash Reprogramming is now a routine and important part of modern vehicle repair, and nearly every OEM now expects shops to be able to perform them. We get a lot of calls asking for help with reprogramming.

CAS offers three ways to assist with programming needs. First, we can deliver, train and support the installation of multiple factory scan tools that allow for the shop to perform reprogramming. If you already purchased an OEM scan tool from CAS or want to add more, call you CAS sales rep. Whenever you need assistance all our CAS reps are able to remote into your CAS supplied laptop to provide programming guidance without having to drive to your location!

Second, we can provide a remote programming option using the Autoland SOD platform or the E-ZDS EZ-Remote platform. The ability to access these platforms and this service may already be in your bays! If you own an Autoland designed iScan-3 or iScan-NX or an EZDS built Gscan-3, Zenith 5 or Zenith 7 tool, simply call the CAS Remote Support line at (833) 397-3668. You can also schedule an appointment by going to our website www.oemtools.com and click on the flashing EZ-Remote button!

Finally, in a number of areas of the country our field reps are available to come into your shop and perform what we call an 'OSS". On-Site Service where the CAS rep has the factory tools on board and will perform the programming event for you. Call your local CAS rep to arrange an OSS.
