Message From the President

Greetings, Red Coats

It has been a busy year so far, and we haven't even gotten to the best part yet.

As with any new administration, there is always a period of transition. This year, we also have the added opportunity of working alongside the new ownership of the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach (AGPLB), bringing fresh perspectives, new ideas, and new opportunities for The Committee of 300 (C300).

These are exciting times for our organization. I am fortunate to work alongside a dedicated group of leaders who share a common vision for the future of the C300. What makes this year's team special is our willingness to work together, tackle challenges head-on, and find solutions that move the organization forward.

In a relatively short period of time, we have welcomed Paul Madruga as legal counsel, implemented updated Code of Conduct & Conflict of Interest policies, launched our Speakers Forum Series at Board of Governors meetings, and introduced The C300 Update E-Newsletter to keep members informed and connected. Most importantly, there is a renewed sense of optimism, professionalism, and momentum throughout the organization.

We will also be reintroducing The Buddy System, (Bring a Friend). If you or someone is interested in volunteering with us for the first time, we encourage them to bring a friend along and experience the camaraderie of supporting the AGPLB race weekend on April 17-18, 2027.

The C300 is growing, improving, and moving forward with a renewed focus on professionalism, communication, and member engagement. Ladies and Gentlemen, the C300 is under new leadership, and I encourage you to participate. Attend meetings, volunteer when you can, share your ideas, and help us continue building a stronger organization together.

To provide clarity and ensure everyone is working from the same information, here are two important reminders on uniform standards and annual dues and renewals. The official C300 uniform consists of a red polo shirt, black pants, and black footwear. Pre-cut, shredded, excessively worn, or faded clothing is not acceptable. As representatives of the C300, we are expected to look and act like professionals. The official uniform must be worn at all sanctioned C300 and AGPLB promotion events. No exceptions.

In regards to annual dues and renewals, the C300 continues to offer members a unique opportunity to support the AGPLB, give back to the community, build lasting friendships, and participate in events throughout the year. New member dues are now $185 and include a red polo shirt and name pin. This adjustment helps us keep pace with rising operational costs while continuing to invest in the programs and resources that support our membership.

Annual renewal dues for current members remain $100 and are due on July 1. To maintain membership in good standing, dues must be paid no later than July 15. Memberships not renewed by October 31 will require a $125 reinstatement fee beginning November 1.

I hope to see everyone at our next Board of Governors Meeting on October 21 at the Fire House, where we will host another outstanding guest speaker as part of our Speakers Forum Series.

Respectfully,

Chris Gehman, President, Committee of 300

Join us for an engaging discussion with a true pioneer who has spent a lifetime redefining what is possible.

The Committee of 300 continues its commitment to bringing unique leaders and accomplished individuals to our membership through the Speakers Forum Series. This month, we are proud to feature Jim "Jet" Neilson, four-time world record holder and internationally recognized jet-car racer.

His presentation will offer an inspiring look at what it takes to achieve extraordinary results through vision, discipline, innovation, and resilience.

Leadership Lessons from the Petersen Automotive Museum

September's Speakers Forum Series featured Terry L. Karges, Executive Director of the Petersen Automotive Museum. Karges discussed the museum's remarkable transformation, the importance of engaging younger generations and how hospitality, education and storytelling can strengthen any organization.

His message resonated with C300 members as we continue building a strong future while honoring our rich motorsports heritage.
