The survey seeks to collect farmers' market data points and information that helps to tell the story about the impacts of COVID-19 on farmer and farmers' market operations, revenue, expenses, and attendance.

FIS Updates:  All wireless POS devices that process EBT at farmers' markets, using FIS (all State issued machines) will need to update their software. FORGIVABLE DISASTER LOAN APPLICATIONS NOW OPEN TO FARMS
The Small Business Administration (SBA) will begin accepting new Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) applications on a limited basis only to provide relief to U.S. agricultural businesses. The SBA has resumed processing of up to $10,000 to provide economic relief to businesses that are experiencing a temporary loss of revenue. This loan advance will not have to be repaid.
 
(Applicants who have already submitted their applications will continue to be processed on a first-come, first-served basis. For agricultural businesses that submitted an EIDL application through the application portal prior to the legislative change, SBA will process these applications without the need for re-applying.)
  • Farmers' Market Coalition (FMC)   is hiring! Interested applicants apply on the FMC website
    • GusNIP Farm Direct Technology Manager : This position will be vital to their work around EBT POS systems, e-incentive technology, and others. Experience working in the tech field as it relates to farm direct outlets is preferred but not required. Apply by May 15th.
    • GusNIP Research & Resource Associate : responsible for researching and compiling documents and resources as it relates to FMC's GusNIP Training and Technical Assistance project with the Nutrition Incentive Hub. Apply by May 15th.
    • Evaluation Technical Assistance Coordinator: This position is responsible for providing technical assistance to farmers' markets, state associations, and others working to collect, analyze, and use data on behalf of farmers' markets.  Apply by May 22nd.
    • Communications Associate This position provides communications and marketing support for FMC's year-round programs. In addition, the Communications Associate will play a key role in executing FMC's major marketing and communications campaigns. Apply by May 22nd.
  • Market Assistant Positio n - Walnut Creek and Orinda Farmers' Market :
    • Duties require heavy lifting at time of set up/breakdown. Shift starts at 6:00am every Saturday/Sunday and involves setting up barricades, tents, equipment, and signs. Assistance is also needed with pedestrian traffic flow, staffing entrance/exits. Customer service experience is a plus; must be friendly, motivated, and like to keep busy; comfortable in a diverse environment.
    • $13 per hour 18 hours per week.
