The League of California Cities® recently published its 2017 Annual Report , which highlights the League’s major accomplishments in advocacy and education last year. 
Cities are encouraged to promote the positive effects of SB 1 in their communities. The League recently updated the SB 1 media toolkit for cities to use to announce funded projects.
The U.S. Department of Justice’s Jan. 4 announcement and memo on marijuana enforcement delivered a shock to the industry in California.
Membership Survey
The League of California Cities will release a survey Wednesday, Jan. 10 to all elected officials and staff of member cities as part of the League’s strategic planning process, which launched October 2017.
Conferences & Education

The deadline has been extended to Jan. 16 to submit your Annual Conference & Expo session proposals. The conference will be held Sept. 12 –14 in Long Beach.

Don’t miss the chance to register early to attend the 2018 Public Works Officers Institute & Expo, which is scheduled for March 28–30 in Monterey. Register online and reserve your hotel by Tuesday, Feb. 27.

The Institute for Local Government (ILG) has released its 2017 Annual Report . The report outlines how the organization connected with more elected officials and staff last year through trainings, resources and outreach. 

The Jan. 29 Workshop is Open to Other Municipal Agency Elected Officials and Staff
The Institute for Local Government (ILG) will hold an ethics training on Jan. 29 in Apple Valley with the San Bernardino County LAFCO. The workshop is also open to elected officials and staff from other agencies. 

The Municipal Information Systems Association of California (MISAC) launched a speakers bureau in December to help connect the experts within of the organization with larger audiences.
