Politics, Dialogue & the Evolution of Democracy:

Roles for Mediators

- A Talk with Q&A -

Thursday, March 20 | 12:00 - 1:30pm PDT | Free | Zoom

Everything that seemed fixed is now in play, many old ideas and approaches for peacemaking have been bypassed or destroyed. The opportunity to design and implement a more effective approach to local, national, and global conflict resolution has never been greater. This can only happen if we can agree on what needs to be done and work together to make it happen.

All of this near-chaos is spreading rapidly. How far it will go, and in which direction, is up to each and all of us. What is important now is for us to join together to discuss what is happening, what needs to be done, and construct a plan of action.

My goal is to encourage us to move out of shock, lethargy, passive acceptance, cynicism, and “anticipatory obedience.” As mediators, we must articulate and demonstrate that there are many profound, important, and beautiful things we can do together. We can make a real difference in the lives of those who are suffering around the world, and the many more who will suffer if we do nothing.

I know it’s possible that our work can transform the madness of the world’s current crises and conflicts into profound and significant advances. It is time for us to come forward and work together, making the promise of conflict resolution and peacemaking a practical yet sweeping reality.
