Will Ferrell’s Super Bowl Ad Has Norway Taking an EV Victory Lap
Boy, that escalated quickly.
“Norway is absolutely not best in everything in this world. But on EVs, we’re actually the best,” Sveinung Rotevatn, who has been in the role for a little over a year, told Bloomberg News in an interview. “There is no one who is even close to selling as many as us.”
Norway became the first in the world to see electric cars seize a majority of annual vehicle sales last year, with consumers snapping up battery-powered Audi e-tron SUVs, Tesla Model 3 sedans and Nissan Leaf hatchbacks. December was a record-breaking month for EVs’ share of the market at 67%. The country wants all cars sold there to be zero-emission in 2025. Read more here. Watch the video here.

Biden's climate executive orders are a mini-Green New Deal
'Climate Day' at Biden White House echoes themes established in Green New Deal.
Imagine a deployment of federal investments to curb U.S. greenhouse gas emissions from various sectors including electricity, transportation, and agriculture, with the goal of creating millions of jobs and an eye on correcting environmental injustices in the process.

Can Massachusetts Democrats Overcome the Power of Business Lobbyists and Pass Climate Legislation?
Despite supermajorities enjoyed by the party in both houses of the state legislature, a new Brown University study suggests the answer may be no.
A Republican governor in the otherwise overwhelmingly blue state of Massachusetts vetoed a wide-ranging climate bill two weeks ago that had broad public support after real estate developers objected to provisions that would allow municipalities to require “net-zero” emissions from all new building and home construction.
Democrats, who hold supermajorities in both houses of the state Legislature, vowed to quickly send the bill back to Gov. Charlie Baker’s office, possibly as early as Thursday, with enough votes to override a second veto. However, a new report by researchers at Brown University shows that despite the Democrats’ power and strong interest in the state for aggressive action on climate change, the Legislature has repeatedly failed to take aggressive action due to the same lobbying from business interests that led to the governor’s recent veto. Energy & The Built Environment

As a non-profit focused on both climate change and consumers, we have noticed that the complexity of solar contracts and cost of solar panels prohibit some people from moving forward with solar installation.
For years we have helped consumers to install solar by interpreting state programs, teaming up with state and municipal programs like Massachusetts Solar Connect, and even buying solar RECs from projects built before 2010. Now we've vetted an all-in-one solution that we're excited to share with our members and friends: EnergySage. Together, we're helping more and more people install solar...
Why You Need Help Comparing Solar Installers
An independent study from National Renewable Energy Lab (NREL) has shown that getting multiple quotes from a vendor-neutral aggregator, rather than contacting solar installers individually, yields significant savings driven by competition. NREL found that EnergySage saved 2017 Mass Solar Connect participants about 7% compared to the average MA solar prices at that time. Read more here.

Check Out MCAN's Net Zero Stretch Code Advocacy Toolkit!
Once again, Governor Baker has a climate bill, the Next Generation Climate Bill (S. 9), on his desk. Last session, Governor Baker vetoed this same bill, falsely stating that the Net Zero Stretch Code included in the bill hinders the production of urgently needed affordable housing because of excessive cost.
This is not true.
-
A Resource Page with definitions for technical terms and talking points about the need for retaining net zero stretch code in the current climate bill
-
Email and phone scripts for legislators to use with their colleagues and the Governor
-
Email and phone scripts for advocates to use with their legislators and the Governor
-
Social media content and graphics, including sample tweets, graphics for Twitter, Instagram and Facebook
-
A municipal sign-on letter for local decision makers
The facts are clear: Affordable Net Zero Housing is already being built and retaining the Net Zero Stretch Code in the climate bill is critical if the Commonwealth is to reach our carbon emissions reductions goals. Let's raise our voices and make sure that the Net Zero Stretch Code is retained in the climate bill. Be a Climate Leader. Use the toolkit!
