Greetings CAAHEP Commissioner,

The CAAHEP Board met on July 21 in Orlando, where they took accreditation action on 75 programs. This was the first meeting of the 2016-2017 Board. The Recommendation Review, Performance Oversight, and Planning and Development Committees all met on July 20 and provided reports to the Board on their activities. In addition, the CAAHEP Standards Committee met to review three sets of Standards. The Board meeting was followed by a very successful Committee on Accreditation Summer Workshop, where representatives from all CoAs but two were present. The Workshop included presentations on writing effective citations, training CoA Board members, outcomes, the use of simulation, emergency transition planning, and more. The meeting evaluations thus far have been extremely positive.

A Program First
Congratulations to the Community Regional Medical Center on having the first CAAHEP accredited Advanced Cardiovascular Sonography program in the country! The program, located in Fresno, California, was accredited during the July 2016 Board of Directors meeting.

Another Update on CAAHEP's Efforts to Address CHEA's Outcomes Mandate
As reported in past issues, part of CAAHEP's recognition by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation ( CHEA) is assuring that all accredited programs are publishing appropriate outcomes for the programs in a readily accessible place, preferably on each program's website. Each of the Committees on Accreditation has created a policy on what outcomes are to be reported, and the policies have been shared with every program. We're happy to report that to  date, nearly 88% of CAAHEP accredited programs with a continuing status have outcomes URLs listed on the CAAHEP website. Katie Davis, CAAHEP Accreditation Assistant, has been entering that information, producing reports for CHEA, as well as checking (and double checking) the accuracy of the links provided.
