Come to the CABARET!

Spring time is heating up at the Waterloo Community Playhouse!  Make plans now to join us for the celebrated adult musical - Cabaret.  The show opens on April 1 in the Hope Martin Theatre at the Waterloo Center for the Arts.
 
The first review of the original Broadway production summed the show up nicely - "it is the glory of Cabaret that it can upset you while it gives theatrical satisfaction" Richard Watts.
 
When it first appeared in 1966 the director and producers sought to create a parallel between the struggles of the civil rights movement and the Nazi persecution of Jews and minorities. It is a sparkling and engaging show that begins with the excesses of behavior that marked the twenties in Germany and mocks the growing mistrust and hatred that was brewing. We hope you will be entertained while also being moved and engaged - that is the joy of the theatre.

What's it about?

 A SEXY    MUSICAL  COMEDY
    FOR
ADULTS
RECOMMENDED FOR AGES 16 + The scene is the Kit Kat Club, a night club in Berlin, as the 1920's are drawing to a close. The M.C. welcomes you to the show and assures that, whatever your troubles, you will forget them at the Cabaret. The orchestra is onstage, and you may be as well. Cliff, a young American writer, meets Ernst & Sally Bowles. Musical numbers include Willkommen, Cabaret, Mein Herr, Maybe This Time, Money and Two Ladies. At the end, much is changed, and the show ends with a start foreshadowing of things to come.
