Highlighting our awesome CABE team members....

This month, we are proud to spotlight Norma Rocha, CABE’s Manager of Information Technology and Creative Design (IT&CD). Hailing from Boyle Heights in East Los Angeles, Norma was a straight-A, academically competitive student at an all-girls Catholic school. Growing up in a bilingual family, she spoke Spanish with her parents and English with her four siblings. Her first full-time job was at the John Tracy Clinic which serves and educates multicultural children

with hearing loss and their parents from around the world. Because of her interest in computer science, she got on-the-job training and took an online correspondence course in website maintenance. She later became a webmaster in the clinic’s technology department where she worked with Martha Vidal, now CABE’s Web Development and IT Specialist. Norma's responsibilities included the management of software, hardware, and networks.
Norma has been a CABE team member for 12 years and shares that she comes home from work every day feeling fulfilled. She loves that through CABE she can contribute to improving lives and providing access to quality, equitable education for students and parents. She says, “My life needs to be more than a paycheck. I need teamwork, belonging, and the gratification of making a difference.”

Norma was married to the love of her life, Alfred, for 22 years before he passed away in 2021. They have three daughters: Amanda (26) an actuary in Arizona, Sarah (23), an engineering assistant, and Sofía (19), a student at Whittier College. In her free time, Norma enjoys baking and cake decorating, cooking, gardening, camping, and music—especially norteño, reggaetón, oldies, and pop.

Thank you, Norma, for keeping our CABE familia connected to each other and to the world with beautiful and informative websites, communications, and creative design!
