CAC Responds to Increasing Requests for Help Due to COVID-19 Crisis
With support from donors, volunteers and the GA National Guard, CAC is responding to the coronavirus crisis by helping many more families and individuals than ever before. CAC has shifted its efforts to mission critical services, pr
oviding food and financial assistance for housing, to help those who have been hit hardest during the crisis. CAC is receiving 4 times as many requests for help than on average following job losses due to the economic shutdown.
Overall Since the Coronavirus Shutdown Began
So far CAC has helped 1,268 families, and about half of them have never come to CAC before.
Helping Families Stay in Their Homes
CAC has received close to 1,000 applications for rent/financial assistance and so far given 193 households assistance totaling $191,000, compared to an average of $25,000 per month in 2019. Avoiding evictions and preventing homelessness.
The food pantry has provided approximately 150,000 pounds of food to 1,124 households. Of those, CAC is delivering food to more than 100 senior
citizens and medically fragile individuals each week.
As the requests for assistance continue to come in, CAC, with your support, will continue to help as many families as possible during this unprecedented time.
