"There is Still Work to Be Done"

With your support we will continue to provide a safe and healing environment for the children and families who need us most.

As longtime CAC Board Member and 2024 Step Up & Speak Out honoree, Dan Cence, says in this video:

"It takes all of us to step up, speak out, and fight for the future we all envision. A future where every single child is safe. A future where every voice is heard. A future where healing, not harm, is the norm."

With your donation today, you can help us get closer to that future and ensure the children and families of Suffolk County receive the expert care they need and deserve.

Recent Highlight

The CAC’s Mental Health & Family Advocacy Director, Catalina Perez, is being trained as a Clinical Trainer in for Problematic Sexual Behavior-Cognitive Behavior Therapy (PSB-CBT) through a collaboration with the MA Children’s Alliance (MACA), the University of Oklahoma’s Health Sciences Center, and the National Center on the Sexual Behavior of Youth. This is part of MACA’s initiative to have trainers across the state to ensure that MA is able to meet the needs of the children and families across the Commonwealth.

Last month, Catalina presented some of the modules during a learning session for clinicians from other CACs and mental health agencies. As the first CAC in the state to offer PSB-CBT to children ages 3-14, we are thrilled to have a role in the expansion of this critical intervention to clinicians and organizations throughout the Commonwealth.

Staff Spotlight

In 2023, Mara Steed joined the CAC as the Support to End Exploitation Now (SEEN) Program Assistant through the Northeastern University Co-op program and provided data collection support for our child trafficking database.

We are thrilled to announce Mara's return to the CAC as SEEN's new Case Coordinator! In this role, Mara facilitates a multidisciplinary response to cases involving commercially sexually exploited and high risk youth. She coordinates multiple agencies across Suffolk County to ensure youth are receiving comprehensive, youth-centered services. When asked what she's most excited about in her return to the CAC, she said:

"I'm looking forward to providing safe, secure, and trauma-informed responses and resources to children and their families."

Welcome back, Mara!

Community Connections

Tis the season for giving back and spreading joy!

Jim Stone of the Stone Family Foundation recently stopped by to donate 50 Trouble the Dog stuffed animals, and Winthrop-based non-profit Survivors by the Sea contributed cookie care packages to spread holiday cheer, hope, and healing with the children who come through our doors. We are so grateful for their generous kindness!
