CAC continues to fight hunger and food insecurity

Since 2020, our neighbors have visited CAC Mini-Markets more than 70,000 times, taking home over two million meals’ worth of fresh and nutritious food.

How do we do it?

  • CAC distributes fresh produce, meats, dairy, prepared foods, and shelf-stable foods to neighbors in need
  • CAC runs three food pantry locations for convenient access
  • CAC operates a client-choice model that lets families choose what they prefer, reducing waste and providing dignity
  • CAC works with local organizations and grocery stores to reclaim food before it goes bad, helping reduce food waste in our community

Working together to help teachers, help students

CAC and the Sandy Springs Education Force (SSEF) have worked together for several years to provide classroom supplies to teachers in local public schools in Sandy Springs. This program is known as the Teachers’ Supply Closet and has grown year on year to provide $33,728.62 of supplies to impact 7,288 students in the 2022-23 school year. These supplies support students with low economic resources and enable teachers to have sufficient supplies in their classrooms.

Our Teachers’ Supply closet is always in need of school supplies, but at this moment, supplies of certain items are critically low. Please click on the link below to find the list of the most needed items. Items can be delivered to the CAC office at 1130 Hightower Trail, Sandy Springs, 30350 from 9:30am-1:30pm Monday-Friday.

VITA Tax Prep Program makes a difference to the whole family

VITA is an IRS national program that provides free tax prep to taxpayers with low-to-moderate income. CAC is providing tax prep appointments at two sites, with training available (contact [email protected]). If you're not ready to prepare tax returns, you can volunteer as a greeter, instead!

Last year, former financial clients drove from hours away to the CAC VITA program because they trust us. With a three-month commitment, you can contribute to our goal of helping our clients receive over $500,000 in tax returns, credits, and incentives. Get trained, choose your shifts, and change lives!!
