I have been around the world, lived in five different countries, and implemented projects in 16 countries and have learned one very important thing – people are people. We all have the same basic needs. We may express those needs in a different language and fulfill those needs through different cultural norms, but the basic needs are the same.
Sometimes, life happens in a way that disrupts the ability to meet those needs - and that is where CAC steps in. In 2023, we helped 3,835 families (8,599 people) with food, rent, clothing, adult education, career help and/or through one of our seasonal programs. That is a 33% increase over 2022. 962 of those families avoided eviction and 2,630 families put food on the table because of the help we provided. Most of these community members are not new to our area; many have been neighbors for generations.
On January 2, our waiting room was full of people in the midst of one of those life disruptions. It looks like this year may be much like last year in terms of people going through difficult times and needing a little boost to get over the crisis hump. We will be here to give that boost, and try to expand opportunities beyond the hump. To do that most effectively, we need you to continue to put your time, talents and treasure toward meeting these needs? Help us activate hope in our community.
I would love to meet you. Please give me a call (770.282.0904) or email me to set up a time to meet.
