Welcome to the 2025-2026 School Year

Sacramento County CAC

If you are new, welcome! The Special Education Local Plan Area (SELPA) is a team made up of local school districts and the county office of education. We work together to make sure students with disabilities get the services and support they need to succeed.

The Community Advisory Committee (CAC) is an important part of this team. It brings together parents, teachers, and community members to share ideas, resources, and feedback that help improve our programs.

Whether you’ve been with us before or this is your first time joining, we’re happy you’re here and look forward to working together to support our students.

John Reven, CAC Chairperson:

And we are off..... Welcome to a new school year!

I am a parent of an adult student with disabilities and have been a member of the Robla community for many years. I am this year's CAC Chairperson and am looking forward to a great year. Our goal is to have strong representation from all of our district parents.

This year, our focus will be “Transition Planning from Preschool to Adulthood.” We’ll cover this topic during four daytime meetings (virtual and in person) and three evening virtual trainings for parents (see flyer below)

All are welcome to attend our CAC meetings and trainings. Our first meeting is on September 25, 2025, at 10:00 AM. I look forward to seeing you there as we start the year together.

50th Anniversary of the IDEA

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). This important law makes sure that students with disabilities have the right to a free and appropriate education. Our State SELPA Association partners with SELPAs, school districts, and families across California to support this work. Join us in recognizing 50 years of progress and learning more about how SELPAs continue to support students and families today.
