From Our Executive Director

The biggest thank you to Jo Poshard for serving on the Children's Advocacy Centers of Illinois board since 2011!
Jo has been a consistent, kind, and supportive board member through many changes over the years. As a board member, Jo always provided a strong voice for the Southern Region, making sure that the needs of children in deep southern Illinois were heard on a statewide level. Personally, Jo is truly one of the kindest people I have met. She is a gentle, but fierce advocate for children. I have appreciated her leadership and friendship and look forward to continuing to collaborate in the future.
THANK YOU JO!!!

The Data & Communication Specialist will serve as the Chapter’s primary data collection, filtering, and compilation expert. They will serve as the point-of-contact for all Children’s Advocacy Centers (CACs) in Illinois for all things data-related. The ability to interpret the data and tell a story will be vital. A flexible self-starter will grow with this position and design their duties as we expand our data footprint throughout the state.

Please feel free to email me at kenneth@cacionline.org if you do want to join me or if you have recommendations of your own!
If you've already read this, or want to read along, let me know!

The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) is developing a plan to strengthen the Illinois child welfare system. We understand the most important place to begin is with you – the birth parents, foster and adoptive parents, DCFS and private agency partner staff and service providers who serve, protect and care for Illinois youth and families every day.
Your input is invaluable as we develop this plan, and you can help guide us by taking a confidential five question survey about what you believe are the most important issues for DCFS to consider to better support and serve the children and families of Illinois.
Please complete the survey before June 26, 2021.
You are also invited to participate in a virtual focus group for a more in-depth discussion about the child welfare system in Illinois. To accept this invitation, check the “yes” box in question three of the survey to provide your contact information and receive more information.
Please share the survey link with others you know who have an interest in strengthening the Illinois child welfare system.
Thank you for taking the time to complete the survey and for sharing your thoughts and ideas with us.

CACI staff carved out time this month to participate in a staff retreat. Andy Zimney from Employee Strategies met with the CACI staff to revisit our agency values, analyze our team diagnostic, and set goals for the upcoming year. Andy's assessment of CACI showed that the CACI is a workplace that consists of both high productivity along with high positivity. This time together allowed the CACI staff to have fun, and charge up for a new fiscal year ahead.
