FROM THE DESK OF THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
|
CACI Board President Rosemarie King-Grindy stepped down from her time on our board. Rosemarie diligently served our organization for over 6 years while leading us through challenging and exciting growth and changes. She has been a caring and professional leader and a joy to know.
We thank Michael Williams for agreeing to serve as Interim Board President in this transition.
CACI welcomed five new board members to our September meeting: Honorable Casey Bloodworth, Beth Johnstone, Mary Beth Long, Jeffrey Brown, and Kaye Dent.
We are excited to share that 11 of our Illinois CACs are going through the
National Children's Alliance (NCA) accreditation process in 2019! Applications were submitted this spring and site visits were conducted in September. Congrats to you all for the hard work that goes into this process and for ensuring that your CACs are meeting the standards!
Please join us in a round of applause to our friends at
Midwest Regional Children's Advocacy Center, as they have been awarded the Midwest Regional Grant from the Department of Justice! We are looking forward to the next 3 years of working together.

The “Children Start To Heal The Moment They Are Heard” campaign is aimed at child abuse response and prevention.
We understand that effective advocacy requires both information and action, therefore 14 billboards have been placed throughout Illinois.
The billboard campaign includes the CACI website that provides comprehensive information regarding contact information for local CACs, signs of abuse, Illinois statistics, training opportunities and more.
|
|
"Stranger Danger" is important but did you know that 90% of child abuse victims know their abuser? Would you be shocked to know that only one third of children who are sexually abused actually tell?
CACI is a membership organization dedicated to helping local communities respond to allegations of child abuse in ways that are effective and efficient while putting the needs of child victims first. CACI provides training, support, technical assistance and leadership to the 40 child advocacy centers (CACs) and multidisciplinary teams (MDTs) throughout Illinois responding to reports of child abuse and neglect.
For more information on CACI or a CAC near you, please visit our
website.

This past year, CACI began the design process and will be implementing the Collaborate Software Management System from Network Ninja. This will allow Illinois to have a statewide
database system for the first time. This database will allow CACs to apply limited resources in the most productive ways. It will also allow Illinois CACs to take data to the next level.
We are so thankful for the input provided by Illinois CACs as we move forward with this project and to our funding agency National Children’s Alliance, for helping us realize this dream.
Both the Design Team and Data Migration team for Collaborate are in full swing.
Each CAC has, or will be, contacted by Network Ninja to discuss data migration. The Data Migration team is working on initial data preparation for upload into a test system for their CAC. The Design team continues to work on developing the Intake Form. A list of Agencies across the state is being built to include Law Enforcement, State's Attorney offices, DCFS, and hospitals. It is exciting to watch as this project begins to come to fruition.
