ADHD Stories

Sheena's Story

Have you ever felt like you're only hearing half of the story, like you're disconnected from the world around you? Sheena certainly knows that feeling all too well.

Throughout her educational journey, Sheena grappled with this disconnection, as if she were only experiencing half the soundtrack of life. Little did she know, her struggles were rooted in undiagnosed ADHD – a common reality for many.

Ways to Give

Gifts of Securities

Donating securities is one way you can help change lives and shape our community’s future. Do you hold securities that have increased in value in recent years?

Your gift of securities entitles you to receive a donation receipt for the full market value (resale) of your contribution. Your gift will result in a non-refundable tax credit that will reduce your income taxes. You can use it in the year of your gift or carry it forward. You pay no capital gains tax on the appreciated value (increased price) of your securities.

By donating securities directly to the Centre for ADHD Awareness, Canada avoids the tax on capital gains, maximizes the return on your investment and protects the tax credits for use against other taxable income. Your donation of listed securities can help provide assistance to people affected by ADHD by providing courses, programs and support groups to individuals and families struggling across Canada.

Donating securities is an easy process! For more information go to Securities information on the CADDAC website and click the securities tab on the side, or download our Securities PDF.

Survey participants needed: Students in grades 7 to 10 with a diagnosed Learning Disability who use/have used assistive technology

We are looking for students in grades 7 to 10 with a diagnosed Learning Disability who use or have used assistive technology (e.g., iPad, tablet, computer, laptop or reading pen) to support them in the classroom to take part in this research. The purpose of this study is to better understand what factors impact adolescents with a learning disability's use of assistive technology in the general education classroom. Participants will be asked to complete a 30-minute online questionnaire (with a text-to-speech option) about their experience using assistive technology in the classroom, how they feel about using assistive technology, how others view their assistive technology, teacher support and how they view themselves as a learner.

CanMEDS Project Open Call for public consultation on the future of physician training and practice

The CanMEDS Physician Competency Framework is being updated and we are inviting the health care community and patients to contribute to this important project.

We want to hear from patients! We need your help. Along with our partners in the health care community we are looking for patients to provide feedback on the competencies physicians require to meet today’s patient care needs. We want to hear patients’ thoughts on what is working well with their current care and what needs to change. Our hope is to reach a range of diverse voices and give everyone the opportunity to provide input into what they feel should be included in the next iteration of the CanMEDS framework.
