Rise Above is an independent publication and resource for art teachers produced by San Diego-area educators and partners of CAEA. Inside this issue find ready to use lesson plans for elementary, middle and high school students. Interviews with artists and educators: learn about their creative processes, teaching philosophies, and how they bridge the gap between their work and the classroom. Learn about art exhibits in the community for students and teachers and more. This publication is a wonderful example of local initiative and arts advocacy.

CAEA South Member Honored

Carol Lockwood, longtime La Mesa-area resident, CAEA member, and namesake for a CAEA educator scholarship, was honored in September by the City of La Mesa for all she has given back to the community over the years. The honor was in the form of a star in her name on the “Walkway of the Stars.”
