CAEP 2019-20 Funds Expired December 31st
|
|
The 2019-20 CAEP funds expired on December 31, 2021. The Quarter 2 (Q2) expenditure report, to be certified by the consortium no later than March 31, 2022 in NOVA, will close out these funds (and any remaining funds must be returned to the State). As part of the Q2 expenditure reporting in NOVA, each consortium will close out by certifying that all members have expended 2019-20 CAEP funds and there is no remaining balance. If there is a remaining balance, NOVA will generate an invoice to return 2019-20 funds to the State General Fund.
If you have questions or need assistance completing the quarterly fiscal report, including the close out, contact CAEP TAP at tap@caladulted.org or (888) 827-2324.

EDD: Rural Public Health Workforce Training Network Program – Grant Application Opportunity
|
|
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Health Resources and Services Administration announces the availability of approximately $48 million for the Rural Public Health Workforce Training Network Program (RPHWTN) to expand public health capacity by supporting health care job development, training, and placement in rural and tribal communities. The HHS anticipates awarding 31 grants with a maximum award of approximately $1.5 million for a three-year project period. One of the key elements of the RPHWTN Program is to create stronger linkages between training programs and the health care entities that will ultimately employ these public health professionals.
Applicants must select at least one of the following workforce training tracks and establish a network to implement workforce activities that will directly impact the workforce training track(s):
- Track #1 – Community Health Support
- Track #2 – Health IT and/or Telehealth Technical Support
- Track #3 – Community Para-Medicine
- Track #4 – Case Management Staff and/or Respiratory Therapists
Eligible applicants must be public or private, non-profit or for-profit entities, including faith-based, community-based, tribes and tribal organizations with demonstrated experience serving, or the capacity to serve, rural underserved populations. The closing date for receipt of proposals is March 18, 2022.
For more information about the grant opportunity, visit the grants.gov website and reference HRSA-22-117. For a complete description of funds available, the funding entity, eligibility requirements, and links to the grant application, visit the HHS website.

PPIC Commentary: Narrowing the Digital Divide with Pandemic Benefits
|
|
In their latest blog post, PPIC discuss how many California households struggle to afford internet services, particularly in low-income communities and communities of color. To help bridge this digital divide, the federal government established the Emergency Broadband Benefit (EBB) program last May.
The program offers a subsidy of up to $50 per month toward broadband service for eligible households—those earning up to 135% of the federal poverty level (or about $35,000 for a family of four) or who qualify for other federal safety net programs.
The recently enacted Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act extends the Emergency Broadband Benefit program indefinitely, with a subsidy of $30 per month. However, preliminary data show that the program is not reaching many eligible households. Nationwide, only about one in five eligible households were enrolled as of October 31. This means that 26 million eligible households are not receiving the subsidy.
Access the PPIC blog post to learn more about the current digital divide and the ways in which the Emergency Broadband Benefit program can be improved.
