CALPRO Pilot in the San Diego Region: Evidence Based Reading Instruction | | |
"The California Department of Education (CDE) and the California Adult Literacy Professional Development Project (CALPRO) are pleased to offer a regional Community of Practice (CoP) pilot on Evidence-Based Reading Instruction to participants from the San Diego area, including MiraCosta College, Escondido Adult School, Poway Adult School, Vista Adult School, and other neighboring districts and adult education consortia.
In-Person Session Dates: Fridays, March 27 & April 17, 2026, 10am-1pm
Location: MiraCosta College Community Learning Center
Asynchronous Online Dates: March 16 - April 26, 2026 (Moodle)
Participants will engage in a blend of asynchronous online and in-person sessions, focusing on evidence-based explicit reading instruction in the four essential components of reading—alphabetics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. This is a unique opportunity for educators to participate in job-embedded professional development.

| | CALPRO’s Spring 2026 IET Clinic – Application Open | | |
There’s still time to apply for CALPRO’s next Integrated Education and Training (IET) Implementation Clinic! Applications are due by Friday, February 6.
CALPRO’s IET Clinic is designed for program staff who seek more support in meeting the IET implementation challenges they face and are interested in learning from other IET practitioners. Agency teams participate together as a team of three—ideally an ESL instructor, a CTE instructor, and a program administrator.
The Spring 2026 IET Clinic runs from February through June 2026, followed by coaching to support the team’s implementation efforts after completion of the clinic.
All clinic activities take place online and include the following:
• Two day-long virtual training sessions
• Three live, interactive webinars (75–90 minutes each), with topics tailored to the needs and interests of the participating teams
• Ongoing discussions in an online community of practice
• Team capstone project
• Coaching (following completion of the clinic)

Register now for CALPRO’s facilitated online course, College and Career Readiness Standards (CCRS): English Language Arts (ELA) Implementation and Application. This course is designed to support participants in developing and revising lesson plans with activities, assignments, and assessments aligned with the College and Career Readiness Standards for Adult Education.
Facilitated online courses offer flexible asynchronous learning combined with opportunities to engage and interact with an expert facilitator and other practitioners. Participants receive a course certificate upon completion.
