Advancing CA Adult Education Model Program

San Joaquin Delta College established the Directing Adult towards the Right TrAC for Employment (DARTE) learning community in the Spring of 2021 to support and accelerate student transitions. Adult school students face many barriers transitioning to community college. Many don't know what kinds of options are available, lack resources, face barriers and do not consider themselves "college material". Even when students do transition they can face many challenges navigating the community college environment.

There is need for programming and staffing that accelerates adult school student transition to community college by providing access to financial aid, student community and other needed educational and wrap-around support services.

Learn more about the Directing Adults on the Right TrAC for Employment (DARTE) Learning Community and visit the Advancing California Adult Education website to view other Model Programs throughout California.

Master Plan for Career Education

The leaders of California’s education and workforce agencies–working with students, families, adult learners, workers, employers, labor, and community-based organizations–have developed a set of big ideas for creating more equitable access to living wage, fulfilling work. During 2024, Californians will have an opportunity to weigh in on how to translate those ideas into concrete actions.

This collaborative effort will result in a Master Plan for Career Education.
