The CAEP Office Hour has been going strong for two weeks straight! Last week’s office hour included guests who shared vital information and resources to support adult education instruction, data reporting, and CalFresh recipients during the COVID-19 pandemic. Check out the office hour archives here. Register for this week’s office hour – Friday, April 10, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. The CDE will join us!

Additionally, the CAEP Office and CAEP TAP will host a webinar, including a NOVA live demonstration, on the CFAD and other pressing CAEP topics. The webinar will take place on Friday, April 17, 2020 at 12:00 p.m. Register to attend the upcoming webinar.

Health Professionals, California Needs You and PPE!
California is preparing for an increase in the number of people who urgently need health care in our communities during the COVID-19 outbreak. To meet this demand, the California Health Corps is opening additional health care sites and are seeking eligible health professionals.

Governor Newsom is requesting donations of supplies needed by health officials. If you haven't donated already, you are encouraged to use the State of California COVID-19 Medical Supply Contributions form. Additionally, t he Health Workforce Initiative is still collecting statewide inventory of needed personal protective equipment (PPE) . U se the Healthcare Inventory tabs ( adult schools and community colleges ) to donate PPE and/or report already donated items.

OTAN COVID-19 Support to Adult Educators
In response to COVID-19 and school closures across the State, the California Leadership Projects have set up a number of online webinars and office hours for adult education practitioners who are continuing to teach and support their learners, and a dedicated  COVID-19 Field Support webpage . This webpage includes valuable resources related to distance learning, and archived materials from their past webinars and office hours. Their upcoming webinars and office hours are outlined below:



  • Teaching with YouTube, presented by Jennifer Gagliardi, is scheduled for Monday, April 13, 2020 at 1:00 p.m.

Department of Labor Announces $42.5 million in Youth Apprenticeship Readiness Grants

The Department of Labor (DOL) just announced its plan to award approximately 15-25 youth apprenticeship readiness grants ranging between $1 million to $5 million. The grants will support the youth (16-24 years, in-and-out of school) apprentices into new or existing Registered Apprenticeship Programs. The deadline to apply is May 6, 2020 .
