CAEP Reminders: 2021-22 COLA and CFAD
All CAEP members in good standing are eligible for the 2021-22 COLA (which is 1.5%). Members cannot be outvoted on the COLA. The only way a member will not receive the COLA is if they meet the criteria under EC 84914 (b)(1). Also, this education code guarantees that the amount of funds distributed to a member of that consortium be equal to or greater than the amount distributed in the prior fiscal year.
By May 3, 2021, each consortium is to certify the 2021-22 CFAD. There will be no extensions granted.

Vision in Action - Top 10 Student Centered Ideas to Use Federal Stimulus Resources
The American Rescue Plan presents hope and opportunity amidst a difficult year. The $2.3 billion investment that California’s community colleges will soon receive from the Federal stimulus provides leaders an opportunity to innovatively re-invest the one-time funds in much-needed systemic changes that can ensure equitable opportunities and outcomes for all students. As colleges craft spending plans aligned with federally allowable uses, a group of community college leaders crafted 10 ideas centered around student needs and the urgency to act in their best interest. The needs range from replacing costs for student resources that would normally be provided by the college inside classrooms and support areas to providing direct emergency grants to students in need and most affected by the pandemic. Access the newsletter for more details.

FCCC: The Student Journey to Success Project
The Student Journey to Success project was developed in response to a core commitment in the Vision for Success: "Always design and decide with the student in mind." The project was a joint effort by the Chancellor's Office and the Foundation with funding generously provided by College Futures Foundation and the Stupski Foundation. Philanthropic support allowed for the application of behavioral science learnings to key points along students’ educational journeys, particularly early phases of matriculation, to set students on a path to success at the beginning of their college journeys. Through the Student Journey to Success project, the Chancellor’s Office and the Foundation have laid the groundwork to transform the student user experience through research and application of student centered design best practices. Download the report to learn more about the project.
