Spring Clean Up in Old Ottawa East on May 10

Join the Old Ottawa East Community Association (OOECA) and CAG to clean up Old Ottawa East parks, pathways, roads and river shorelines on Saturday May 10 from 10:00am to 12:00pm!


Bring your own cleaning gear or pick up your gloves and garbage bags at Old Town Hall (61 Main Street) or Brantwood Fieldhouse (39 Onslow Crescent).

There will also be a post clean-up refreshment and social at Old Town Hall at 12:00pm! Register to collect your High School volunteer hours by emailing Info@OttawaEast.ca

Volunteer with CAG!

CAG is hosting our first water station forthe Tamarack Ottawa Race Weekend, and we need 25 volunteers from our awesome community to help make it a success!


When: Morning of Sunday, May 25, approximately 7:00am - 1:00pm during the Marathon and Half-Marathon


Where: Colonel By, about 5 mins walk from Old Town Hall (exact location to be announced)


Volunteer Duties: Helping to set up, handing out water and electrolyte replacement to race participants, and clean-up

No experience needed and it's a great way for high school students to fulfill their volunteer hours! Everyone is welcome, volunteers under 10 years old must be accompanied by an adult. Volunteer t-shirts, hats and snacks will be provided!

Grandir Ensemble Playgroup

Hey Old Ottawa East families, Grandir Ensemble's Thursday May 1st playgroup is cancelled, but they'll be right back next Thursday May 8th at Brantwood Park Fieldhouse from 9:30am to 11:00am!


ON y va, programme de Grandir Ensemble, offre gratuitement des lieux où les enfants de 0 à 6 ans, accompagnés de leurs parents et/ou des personnes qui s’occupent d’eux, sont libres de venir jouer, s’amuser et apprendre d’autres personnes, et ce, en français.

This free (!) French playgroup offers space for children aged 0-6 years old, accompanied by a caregiver, to play and meet other children in French!

CAG's Spring Soccer in the Park

CAG's Spring Soccer in the Park 3 - 4 year old group is officially full! We still have spots available for ages 5 - 6, so you can register today and join us for an exciting season of soccer, fresh air, and friends.


Dates: Saturdays, May 10 - June 28, 2025 (8 weeks)

Time for ages 5-6: 10:30am - 11:30am

Pricing: $55.00


This program is perfect for young soccer enthusiasts to learn basic soccer skills, teamwork and sportsmanship in a fun and supportive environment!

Yoga for Healthy Aging


Day/Time: Saturdays, 9:30am - 10:30am

Dates: Now - June 28th, 2025

Location: Brantwood Park Fieldhouse

Price: $132.00 (+ GST) - 12 classes (Prorated for late registration)


This class is geared towards older adults who would like to benefit from the gifts of yoga. The physical benefits from gentle movements and postures are recognized, but yoga offers other benefits as well: through breathing and meditative techniques that can soothe the mind and in turn, offer a broader sense of well-being.

Bring a yoga mat, some comfy clothes and a sense of curiosity! Additional props such as chairs, blocks, straps, and foam mats will be available at the Fieldhouse.

Old Ottawa East Community Association (OOECA) May 2025 Meeting

The May 2025 OOECA Meeting will take place on Tuesday May 13 from 7:00pm to 9:00pm. The meeting will take place both in person at Old Town Hall (61 Main Street) and online via Zoom. Everyone is welcome to attend!


A meeting agenda with committee report links will be posted closer to the meeting date.

Main Street Farmer's Market

The Main Street Farmer's Market will return to Grande Allée Park on Saturday May 17 for the 2025 season!


From 9:00am to 2:00pm on Saturdays, enjoy shopping a variety of goods from 20+ local vendors right here in Old Ottawa East.


Find seasonal produce, meat, dairy, baked goods, prepared foods and so much more, all prepared within 100 km of Ottawa!

Free Transit Weekend - May 3 & 4

OC Transpo is offering a free service weekend on Saturday May 3 and Sunday May 4! Everyone rides free on buses, trains and Para Transpo!


There will also be an interactive event on Saturday May 3 at Hurdman Station between 10:00am and 2:00pm, where you can meet OC Transpo staff and learn more about new services, customer experience improvements and safety initiatives.

Jane's Walk - May 2 to May 4

Jane's Walk returns this weekend to Ottawa with a total of 48 walks happening from Friday May 2 to Sunday May 4! With the theme of 'Third Places' in Community, you can sign up for free walking tours to explore beautiful sites across the Ottawa-Gatineau area and meet some of your neighbours!

Ottawa Children's Festival

The 40th Ottawa Children's Festival will run from May 8 to 13, 2025! Enjoy high-quality theatre, dance and music from around the world at their two sites, Lansdowne Park and the Arts Court.


Activities will be available on the Great Lawn at Lansdowne from 10am to 3pm. Showtimes range from 10am to 6pm and all performances are fully accessible.

2025 Canadian Tulip Festival

The Canadian Tulip Festival returns from Friday May 9 to Monday May 19, 2025! Enjoy guided or self-guided walking tours, Movies in the Park, the Big Bug Boardwalk, Pilates & Petals, the Play Zone, food trucks and so much more!


Chartwell People Movers will be operating daily from 10:00am to 8:00pm to help make the festival more accessible to all, details here.
