CAHEC Enters New Territory with
16 Rehab Properties in Mississippi
CAHEC is very proud to have partnered with J&A Management on closing our first investment in the state of Mississippi. Through this partnership, 601 units of existing affordable housing across 16 developments will be preserved and modernized. The expertise, local knowledge, and strong professional connections possessed by the entire J&A team were invaluable resources during the closing process. A special thanks and acknowledgment is also owed to Mississippi Home Corporation, Bellwether Enterprise Real Estate Capital, Baker Donelson, USDA Rural Development, Stifel, Tiber Hudson, Miles & Stockbridge, US Bank, Don Causey, and everyone else that contributed to the closing and the rehabilitation of this critically needed affordable housing. With this new presence and foundation in The Delta, we look forward to the opportunity to make additional investments in Mississippi.
Employee Spotlight: Irish Farmer
CAHEC has been around for over 29 years, and part of the reason we have been so successful is because of our great partners and residents. The other part of our success is directly attributed to the CAHEC staff, which now includes 47 people.

One employee in particular – Irish Farmer – recently celebrated her 20-year anniversary at CAHEC. Irish is one of the Asset Managers our partners work with on tenant file audits, site visits/inspections, and the review of each property’s financial well-being. “There are so many things I love about working at CAHEC,” Irish explained. “But one of my favorite things is that we go beyond just providing communities with safe and affordable housing. We care about the residents who live there, too. I have seen so many residents obtain their degrees, go back to school to get their high school diploma, and some have even become first-time homebuyers. These life-changing opportunities may not have been possible without CAHEC.”
Networking Opportunity for
Women in Affordable Housing

Our dynamic group of members includes housing professionals in accounting, consulting, development, financing, government, law, and management – just to name a few. While in-person events are currently paused due to the pandemic, recent virtual events have included a LinkedIn Personal Branding Lunch and Learn and a Mindfulness and Meditation session. Forthcoming 2021 programming will include educational panels, professional development, and other networking opportunities.
