At the same time, we have never lost sight of how much there still is to accomplish. A review of the recent literature on affordable housing indicates we aren't alone. From the National Low-Income Housing Coalition: "No state has an adequate supply of housing for the lowest income renters." Their annual report continues: "Out of Reach documents the significant gap between renters' wages and the cost of rental housing." The Joint Center for Housing Studies of Harvard University asserts that "Housing production has not (returned to a more normal pace). The shortfall in new homes is keeping pressure on house prices and rents, eroding affordability..." Curbed, in May 2019, led with "The United States is facing an affordable housing crisis." In the New York Times (7/27/2018), we read "The Country is in the grips of an escalating housing affordability crisis." And on Jan. 31, 2019, Forbes asserted that "America's Housing Affordability Crisis is Only Getting Worse." Of course, we can go on and on.
