CAHEC Reaches Major Milestone

Last month, CAHEC crossed the $2 billion mark in equity raised for LIHTC, Historic, New Markets, and Energy investments! In the last 25 years, these funds have financed the development of 611 properties serving over 73,000 residents. Take a look at the graphic below to learn more about this milestone. We are so proud of this accomplishment and could not have done it without our great partnerships!

Our Mission in Action
  • Volunteering at local organizations within our community is very important to the CAHEC team. We have collectively volunteered over 440 hours this year and look forward to more hours of service throughout 2017!

  • We are excited to share that CAHEC was the recipient of three awards from the Communicator Awards this year. An Award of Distinction was won in each of the following three categories: the new CAHEC website won for non-profit website, the CAHEC Foundation logo won for non-profit corporate identity logo, and the Year in Review won for non-profit annual report. For more information on this leading international awards program, visit the Communicator Award website.
  • CAHEC envisions sustainable communities offering housing and life-changing opportunities to their residents. So far this year, we've invested over $59 million towards nine new developments throughout our portfolio, and we look forward to serving the residents in those communities for years to come!

"I Couldn't Continue Living There"

Affordable housing benefits a variety of people with diverse backgrounds and life experiences - a single parent trying to make ends meet; a person who works hard for little pay; or a family starting out with only one income. W ith every scenario, affordable housing has consistently helped residents make rent a more reasonable monthly expense, and our senior residents are no different. In a recent interview with Steve Sabo, we found out exactly how affordable housing has helped him during this new stage in his life.

Steve worked hard for over 30 years at a manufacturing company in Pennsylvania. When he retired, he moved south to be closer to family and leased a market-rate apartment. Year after year, Steve was faced with a higher rent increase which was becoming harder to manage on his income. "I knew I couldn't continue living there with the rent going up so much every year. I needed to find a way to make my monthly income work and not pay a fortune in rent."
