Welcome to CAHIP Connection!

December 2025

As we wrap up 2025 and look ahead to 2026, I want to thank you—the members of our association.

Every one of you who pays dues supports the advocacy, professional development, and sense of community that CAHIP/NABIP delivers.

Together, we build businesses. We help consumers find access to the medical services they need. We work with employers to keep employees and their families covered. And we challenge one another to stay informed, ethical, and sharp in a constantly evolving industry.

Be sure to check out the latest issue of our award-winning BIP magazine, and join us at Innovation Expo on February 11 and in Washington, D.C. for Capitol Conference, February 22–25.

As this year comes to a close, I wish you many moments creating precious memories with those you love. And to those who are carrying more than usual this season, please know you are held in our hearts.

May 2026 bring peace, love, and success to you all.

With gratitude,

Dawn McFarland

New! NABIP Media Response Team

NABIP has launched the Media Response Team (MRT) which is a select group of trusted members who serve as spokespersons for NABIP across media platforms.

Our goal is to have at least one MRT member in each of the four markets - Large Group, Small Group, Individual, and Medicare - for every state. This helps make sure we have strong local voices and consistent messaging across the country.

We need your help to fill in the gaps and bring on candidates from across CA.

Ideal candidates:

Can explain complex insurance issues clearly and simply

Are comfortable speaking to the media

Are respected voices within their communities

Support NABIP’s Speak With One Voice standard

MRT members will also collaborate with our legislative teams to align messaging with advocacy priorities.

Next steps:

Submit your recommendations for you or someone you know who’s a member by clicking on the button below.

New! NABIP Capitol Conference Webinars

To help you make the most of this year’s program, you now have the opportunity to register for our full pre-conference webinar series. These webinars are free to attend and exclusive to Capitol Conference registrants. They are designed to sharpen your advocacy skills, deepen your policy understanding, and ensure you arrive in D.C. confident, informed, and ready to engage.

REBC Designation

Earning the Registered Employee Benefits Consultant® (REBC®) designation elevates your credibility as a professional. The field of employee benefits continues to evolve rapidly. A year does not go by without new government regulations, new or modified coverages, and new techniques for controlling benefit costs. To best serve their clients, professionals need to have a current understanding of the provisions, advantages, and limitations associated with each type of benefit or program as a method for meeting economic security.

NABIP Leadership Academy

NABIP's Leadership Academy assists chapter leaders and members to become better leaders in life and NABIP. This 12-module program provides a wide variety of topics touching on many areas to provide students with a well-rounded experience. Programming can be done through attending pre-recorded programming, by attending monthly webinars or as a mix of the two formats. The live programming schedule will be published in September.

The Leadership Academy is open to all active NABIP members. There is no fee for participation. Academy graduates will receive an electronic button to identify and promote their accomplishment. Graduates, who complete the program by May 15, will be eligible for a discounted Annual Convention registration and will be recognized during NABIP's Annual Convention.

The Leadership Academy curriculum is comprised of 12 modules. The student gets to determine between live or pre-recorded modules .

The Academy year is July 1 through June 30. To ensure relevant content, modules may change from year to year. For this reason, students are highly encouraged to complete their studies in the 12-month cycle.
