CAHU Changes Name to CAHIP
Commitment to Members Remains the Same
Dear valued members,

It is my pleasure to announce a new name for our organization. Say hello to California Agents & Health Insurance Professionals (CAHIP, pronounced CAY-hip).

This rebranding has been a long time coming. In fact, in a recent survey more than 70% of our members voted in favor of a new name and brand. They also told us that the word “underwriter” was an antiquated term that didn’t fully represent the variety of services we provide and is often associated with denial of coverage.

Finally, and arguably most important, we’ve been told by many lawmakers that our old name was confusing and didn’t reflect our role as an advocate for every Californian to get the right, personalized coverage for all stages in life.

Our Board of Directors made this name change official in November 2021. It’s important to also note that we remain under the National Association of Health Underwriters (NAHU) corporate structure.

Our new name means that we have a new logo that places the role of the agent at the forefront of the association. As we all know, the work we do is so much more than underwriting. Our more than 1,600 members have been committed to serving our clients and communities through education, advocacy and professional development with the goal of taking care of the whole person, whether it be medical, chiropractic, vision, mental health or dental care for more than 30 years.

The transition to CAHIP gives us a rare opportunity to reintroduce ourselves as the state’s largest organization of professional health insurance agents, brokers, consultants and benefits professionals who represent millions of employers and healthcare consumers.

We are in the process of pulling together a simple tool kit, accessible via the member portal, where you can access our new logo and ready-to-use information to share with your clients about our association and more. Stay tuned for an update in the next several weeks.

This is an exciting time for our organization. With the unveiling of our new name, we will continue to provide you with services and resources to deepen your expertise and expand your business with information, education, and quality networking.

Sincerely,

Brad Davis
CAHIP President
