We invite submissions for a conference focused on the dynamic and evolving concept of academic freedom. This event seeks to foster interdisciplinary dialog and critical reflection on key themes, including:

Understanding Academic Freedom: Philosophical foundations, legal definitions, and boundary cases; exploring reconceptualization based on contemporary challenges

Challenges to Academic Freedom: Analyses of specific threats and the interplay between major global developments, such as the covid-19 pandemic, armed conflicts, rising right-wing radicalism, and managerial transformations in academia

Protecting Academic Freedom: Legal mechanisms, community-based initiatives, and innovative tools such as decentralized science and collaborative platforms
We welcome both theoretical and empirical contributions that provide new insights into these issues, as well as submissions from practitioners and policymakers who can reflect on the practical implications and potential reforms in educational and academic policy.
