Coordinated Assessment Model

camdetroit.org

December 1, 2023

CAM (or coordinated entry, as it is nationally known) is a model used in many cities to provide a streamlined process of resources for people experiencing homelessness. The primary functions of CAM include connecting clients to shelters; assessing a person’s housing needs; identifying and prioritizing the most vulnerable; and referrals to housing programs for long-term assistance.

If you need a safe place to stay tonight and live in Detroit, Hamtramck, or Highland Park, please call (313) 305-0311.

Open Monday - Friday, 8 AM - 6 PM

Warming & Respite Centers OPEN

The City of Detroit has respite locations and warming centers available to provide residents relief from the cold. Detroit recreation centers and library branches are available as respite locations during operating hours. In addition, three warming centers are open for those who are homeless and need shelter during cold weather months.

Three warming centers are open now through March 31 to provide respite from cold weather, plus two meals, showers, sleeping accommodations, and housing assistance services to residents experiencing homelessness. To ensure the safety and security of residents using warming centers, all three facilities are supervised at all times.

To access these warming centers or year-round emergency shelters, residents should call CAM at (313) 305-0311 during the hours of 8 AM - 6 PM, Monday-Friday. Veterans seeking shelter should call from 8 AM - 4:30 PM Monday - Friday.

You can access the full list of warming and respite centers here.
