Coordinated Assessment Model

camdetroit.org

November 17, 2023

CAM (or coordinated entry, as it is nationally known) is a model used in many cities to provide a streamlined process of resources for people experiencing homelessness. The primary functions of CAM include connecting clients to shelters; assessing a person’s housing needs; identifying and prioritizing the most vulnerable; and referrals to housing programs for long-term assistance.

If you need a safe place to stay tonight and live in Detroit, Hamtramck, or Highland Park, please call (313) 305-0311.

Open Monday - Friday, 8 AM - 6 PM

Upcoming CAM Closure

In observance of Thanksgiving, CAM will be closed Thursday, November 23rd and Friday, November 24th. There will be no live phone service those days. Regular service will resume the following Monday.

If you are experiencing homelessness and need a safe place to stay, a recorded list of emergency shelters will be available by calling (313) 305-0311 that day.

Shelter Access Notice

Reminder: Due to limited availability, some shelters are not accepting walk-ins overnight. Please call CAM Monday - Friday between 8 am - 6 pm to speak to someone who can advise on shelter availability and/or other options. Please note that available shelter beds are limited and change daily.
