CAM and Home Builders Association (HBA) of Southeastern Michigan have joined forces to host Michigan’s largest construction industry event! The EXPO will also play host to CAM's Annual Meeting and an Economic Forecast Breakfast. Keep reading to learn more about these exciting events!

RSVP for CAM's 134th Annual Meeting by February 4th

CAM's Annual Meeting takes place on the first day of the EXPO, on Wednesday, February 12th. The event begins with a reception at 11:30 a.m., followed by lunch. In addition to the presentation of our annual report, we will award our CAM Magazine Special Issue winner, install our newly elected board members, and enjoy a keynote by Mark C. Wallace, President and CEO of the Detroit Riverfront Conservancy.

CAM is pleased to offer one complimentary ticket per member firm; additional tickets are available for $60 each. If you haven't already returned your RSVP for the annual meeting, click here to download a copy and reply no later than February 4th. There will be no walk-ins accepted - this event does sell out!

Registering for EXPO does not include admittance to the annual meeting. However those who register for the meeting will be automatically registered for EXPO.
Economic Forecast Breakfast Takes Place on the Second Day of EXPO

On Thursday, February 13th, at 8:00 a.m., CAM and HBA offer a breakfast event and presentation by Robert Dietz, Ph.D., Chief Economist for the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB). Dietz handles housing market analysis, forecasting and industry surveys, and housing policy research for the organization.

Prior to joining NAHB, Dietz worked as an economist for the Congressional Joint Committee on Taxation. He has testified before Congress on housing, economic and tax issues. He is a leading expert on home construction analysis and trends and has been cited and appeared on CNBC, the Wall Street Journal, and other news media.

First Aid, AED, CPR
January 21st – 8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.
Every job site is required to have someone certified in first aid. Are you in compliance? The course details “hands-only” CPR, first aid, choking in adults, signs, and symptoms of heart attack and stroke, and treatment for shock. It explains how AEDs work, and why they’re a critical part of emergency cardiac care. Click here for more info and to register.
OSHA 10-Hour for Construction
January 23rd-24th – 9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.
This program is designed to provide participants with a basic understanding of the hazards present in most construction projects. Participants will be able to identify, and then avoid, reduce, or eliminate job hazards. In addition, they will become more familiar with required record-keeping and MIOSHA enforcement procedures. Project Documentation & Closeout
February 4th – 8:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m.
The dynamics of the workplace demand that activity records be maintained on a regular basis. Documentation of daily activity is essential for managing operations and minimizing disputes. This workshop is designed to equip participants with an understanding of the needs for documentation, the appropriate content of project records, and the various forms of project documentation. Printreading for Residential and Light Commercial Construction
Mondays & Thursdays, February 17th-April 6th – 5:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m.
Students will learn a series of related steps leading to an understanding of shop prints, with emphasis placed on the interpretation of prints, performing mathematical computations, basic print terminology and more. Plot plans, floor plans, elevations, sections, and details of all elements that make up a print will be presented. This course provides experience in exploring residential and light commercial documents, as well as large construction project documents. CAM's Annual Men's Doubles Classic - February 29th
CAM has been proud to sponsor the Annual Men’s Doubles Classic for more than 68 years! The 2020 Classic will offer doubles bowling, dinner and prizes. A yearly average of 360 bowlers have enjoyed this fun-filled day at Thunderbowl Lanes in Allen Park.

  • 10:30 a.m. - Registration and Open Bowling
  • 12:00 p.m. - Doubles Bowling Begins
  • 3:00 p.m. - Buffet Dinner
  • 5:00 p.m. - Awards and Door Prizes

It's Time to Submit Your Project for CAM Magazine 's Special Issue 2020
CAM Magazine ’s Special Issue is published each October, highlighting the 12 most outstanding construction projects of the year. The project entries for Special Issue 2020 must be constructed or designed by a CAM member company, and must have been completed – or reached substantial completion – between June 2019 and June 2020.
As an added bonus to being featured in Special Issue 2020, the General Contractors / CMs / Architects of each winning project will be presented with a commemorative plaque at an award ceremony held at CAM's annual tradeshow. They will also be eligible to be voted as the CAM 2020 Project of the Year.

The National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA) is now accepting entries for the 2020  Project Excellence Awards program.
