Resources to Help Small Businesses Get Back to Work Safely
|
|
To make preparing to resume operations amidst the COVID-19 pandemic easier, the Small Business Association of Michigan has developed resources to assist small businesses.
“Getting back to work will require changes for small businesses that could be overwhelming,” said SBAM president Brian Calley. “We want to make this transition as simple as possible and that’s why we created a guide to getting back to work safely and resources to source personal protection equipment that will be needed. We hope these resources are helpful to small businesses during this difficult time.”
The "Get Back to Work Safely Guide," found
here
, includes tips and resources for issues that small businesses may face including revising employee policies and employee handbooks, as well as talking with employees about new expectations.

At noon on May 26th, the National Safety Council is offering a free webinar on this topic. Recent studies show that the overall effort to reduce injuries has progressed steadily over the past few decades, but the trend for fatalities has plateaued, according to the latest data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
This trend illustrates that whatever organizations have been doing to reduce injuries has not had the same effect on fatalities. As a result, organizations are starting to recognize that the causes of potentially life-threatening events are very different from the causes of other events with lower severity potential.
The overall goal of this session is to help safety professionals:
- Recognize when they are being impacted by brain-centered hazards
- Recognize how brain-centered hazards can contribute to SIFs
- Understand how they can employ certain steps/processes to prevent brain-centered hazards from becoming a potential SIF
