USDOL Announces Final Rule to Modernize Davis-Bacon Act
The U.S. Department of Labor has announced the issuance of the final rule “Updating the Davis-Bacon and Related Acts Regulation” to update regulations that implement the Davis-Bacon Act and Davis-Bacon and Related Acts to reflect better the needs of construction workers on federal construction investments. These updates strengthen and streamline the process for setting and enforcing wage rates on federally funded construction projects to make sure that federal government infrastructure investments are also investments in U.S. workers. CLICK HERE > to read more.
Michigan Procurement Division Holds Webinar on Bidding for State Projects
Join representatives from the Department of Technology, Management & Budget's Central Procurement Division on Monday, August 31st from 10:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m. for a free virtual presentation on how to bid on State of Michigan contracts.

The AIA Celebration of Architecture Takes Over Shed 3 of Eastern Market
The AIA Detroit Celebration of Architecture is the largest annual gathering of AEC professionals in Michigan, and AIA Detroit is proud to use it as a platform to showcase how design can be a driver for sustainable and equitable development around the world. This year's event takes place on Thursday, September 21st, in Shed 3 at Detroit's Eastern Market. Sponsors, exhibitors, and volunteers are needed for this annual event. New Resources Support the Mental Health of Workers
Last week's Safe + Sound Week placed emphasis on the importance of addressing mental health as part of every workplace safety and health program. Three new videos are now available (and with Spanish captioning) that provide tips on reaching out to workers to support their mental health.
LEO's Mental Health in the Work-place monthly webinar series features discussions around the importance of investing in mental health to build stronger, more resilient workplaces.
Also, the state has launched Michigan.gov/WorkplaceMentalHealth, a centralized hub to share resources and strategies aimed at helping employees and employers across the state address mental health in the workplace.
The Michigan Concrete Awards Entry Period Is Open
The Michigan Concrete Association (MCA) has opened the submission period for its 2024 Awards Program, which aims to recognize the best concrete projects designed and constructed or restored during the past year. MCA Members, MDOT, Airport Authorities, County Road Commissions, Municipal Public Works Departments, County, and Municipal Engineers, and Consulting Engineers are invited to nominate candidate projects constructed in the state of Michigan. Nominations are due by October 13, 2023, for concrete projects that will be completed by December 31, 2023. CLICK HERE > for more information.
