OSHA 502 Update for Construction Industry Outreach Trainers

Payment Bonds: A Remedy for Payment on Public Works Projects
April 25 – 8:00 a.m.-10:00 a.m.
In public work projects, there are no construction liens. Payment bonds are furnished by the contractor to the owner to protect payment to the subcontractor and supplier. Please join us in congratulating Suzie DeSonia on her promotion to Managing Editor of the CAM Newsroom. Suzie was originally hired in 2010 to manage the Saginaw planroom. During her time at CAM (plus a 2-year hiatus with a contractor employer), she has performed the duties of membership sales, construction project reporting, data entry, and has been trained in document processing. Her well-rounded education and extensive experience will serve her well in her new role.

NAWIC Detroit Honors the Best in City’s Construction Community
The Detroit chapter of the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) honored standouts in the city's construction community at its annual Construction Industry Awards and Recognition Night on March 8th.

Four construction professionals were recognized for their leadership in the industry in NAWIC Detroit, and two firms and two projects were recognized for their contributions to the industry.

The companies that were honored at the event included CAM member company Commercial Contracting Corp. and Paige Construction, Inc. Projects highlighted were the DTE Energy Laboratories (Commercial Contracting Corp.) and the Pewabic Pottery Expansion (Sachse Construction). The individuals honored were Tarolyn Buckles of Onyx Ent erprise, Inc., Dr. Aslihan Karatas of the NAWIC-supported program Project Accelerate, Kathleen (Kathi) Dobson of Alberici Constructors, and Leslie Hyder of Barton Malow Co. Michigan Safety Conference Takes Place on April 16th & 17th
The Michigan Safety Conference is a two-day health and safety training event held every Spring.

The Architects, Engineers, and Surveyors Legislative Committee (AESLC) represents the design profession by advocating on their behalf in the Michigan Legislature. Over the past several years, they have been able to pass or oppose several pieces of important legislation.
