Today Is Workers Memorial Day - A Day to Honor Our Fallen and Injured Workers
Workers Memorial Day is a time when family members, workers, labor unions, and advocates are gathering in Washington, D.C. and communities across the country to honor and remember our fallen and injured workers. On this day more than 50 years ago, Workers Memorial Day was first declared by the AFL-CIO. The Occupational Safety and Health Act's implementation date is also commemorated on this day.
CAM would like to urge all of our members to take a few quiet moments today to remember those who have fallen or have been injured on the job. The recent OSHA-reported fatalities of a number of young workers are especially heartbreaking. We can all continue to work harder to keep our workers safe. We thank all of our dedicated safety colleagues for the difficult work they do and encourage all CAM members to conduct a regular refresh on the fundamentals of safety.

Stand-Down to Prevent Falls in Construction Next Week
Fatalities caused by falls from elevation continue to be a leading cause of death for construction employees. Those deaths were preventable. The National Safety Stand-Down to Prevent Falls, taking place on May 1st-5th, raises fall hazard awareness across the country in an effort to stop fall fatalities and injuries.
Michigan OSHA welcomes the opportunity to talk with employers and employees about the hazards of falls in the workplace in a non-enforcement capacity. EMAIL US > if you would like to have a MIOSHA representative speak briefly at your jobsite during the week of May 1st-5th. They can tailor the talk to fit your schedule and make the interaction as formal/informal as you would like.
