The 2024 EXPO is coming to the Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi on February 14, 2024. This exciting, one-day event combines the Great Lakes Design and Construction EXPO, Economic Forecast Breakfast, CAM Magazine Special Issue Awards, and CAM’s Annual Meeting. Planned in conjunction with the Home Builders Association of Southeastern Michigan and sponsored by Lake Michigan Credit Union.

Three new directors will be selected and installed during the 138th CAM Annual Meeting on Wednesday, February 14, 2024. Each member firm received ONE ballot via USPS. Ballots must be returned by December 8th. Participation in this important process will help determine the direction of CAM and its continued commitment to the construction community.

Building America 2.0 Presentation Recap: Stimulus Bills Present Massive Opportunity

Despite talks of a looming recession, the commercial construction industry could be booming for the foreseeable future, thanks to three massive federal stimulus bills intended to improve the country’s infrastructure. On November 9th, the Construction Association of Michigan hosted a presentation by Calderone Advisory Group titled “Building America 2.0,” featuring a discussion about this once-in-a-generation opportunity for substantial growth in Michigan’s construction sector. 11,000 Michiganders Chime in on the State's Growth Strategy

Chief Growth Officer Hilary Doe and the Growing Michigan Together team have released a report that compiles and analyzes feedback from more than 11,000 Michiganders that will be used to create the most robust population growth strategy in Michigan’s history. Gov. Whitmer Presses Biden on CHIPS & Science Act Support

On November 20th, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer sent a letter to President Joe Biden calling on him to ensure that funding from the historic, bipartisan CHIPS and Science Act can be invested in Michigan companies. The bipartisan federal legislation aims to boost American manufacturing, create and protect tens of thousands of jobs, and lower costs for working families. CLICK HERE > to read the full text of the letter and to learn more about this funding.

The Nation’s First Public EV-Charging Roadway Is Unveiled at Michigan Central

On November 29th, the Michigan Department of Transportation, the City of Detroit, Electreon, and other partners celebrated a major milestone in the future of mobility and electrification at the Michigan Central innovation district in Detroit as crews finished installing the nation’s first wireless-charging public roadway. Using technology from Electreon, 14th Street is now equipped with inductive-charging coils between Marantette and Dalzelle streets that will charge EVs equipped with Electreon receivers as they drive on the road. The road will be used to test and perfect this wireless-charging technology in a real-world environment and perfect it ahead of making it available to the public in the next few years, helping to further establish Michigan and Detroit as leaders in innovation and technology.
