Understanding AI and technology in unattended retail is key for your business growth. In this session, Yang Yu uses his unique perspective as a successful industry operator, a computer scientist, and now a leading developer of smart store tech in Canada, to present statistical data and evidence-backed strategies for operators.

Yang is the CEO of Micromart, a Toronto-based technology company pioneering modern Smart Stores. He has led the company’s rapid expansion to more than 1,500 locations in just over a year, empowering over 400 operators across the network.

Prior to Micromart, Yang co-founded KitchenMate, an unattended fresh meal service that grew to 100+ locations before its acquisition in 2025. Yang studied Computer Science at the University of Toronto.
