BURN CAMP NEWS AND UPDATES
2021 Creating Ties Wrap Up
Thank you for those of you who joined us at this year's Creating Ties Dinner. We are very thankful to those who joined our program in-person, via Zoom, purchased a dinner box, made a donation, donated or purchased a silent auction item, and/or sponsored the event. One of our campers, Colby, spoke about the impact Burn Camp has had on his life and Burn Camp Director, Trudy, spoke about the importance of camp and how we empower campers to Be Brave in their everyday lives.

We're incredibly excited to announce we broke another fundraising record raising over $127,000!

Thank you to our 2021 Creating Ties Sponsors:

Mark Martinez Family
Strear Family Foundation
Trentel Family
Ted Bellamy
Joey Irwin Family

Monies raised went to the Burn Camps Program's Thrive Endowment which ensures any child who has sustained a burn injury has the opportunity to attend Burn Camp long into the future. Thanks again for joining us for a fun evening filled with friends, food, libations, auction, and the power of camp. Want to be a part of this and missed your opportunity? Donate here or contact Tim Schuetz at (720) 777-6292 or tim.schuetz@childrenscolorado.org.
Winter Camp | February 2022
We are excited to announce that Winter Camp will be held February 7 – 11, 2022, in Steamboat Springs, CO! Teens who have shown an interest in participating in camp beyond just the summer are given the opportunity to attend Winter Burn Camp. Participants spend their days shredding the snow and learning new skills and tricks. In the evening, the group heads back to the Steamboat Grand Lodge to relax in the hot tub and get ready for the evening’s activity. Burn survivors who have attended the Cheley Children’s Hospital Colorado Summer Burn Camp are eligible to attend.

*2022 Update: With COVID-19 rates continuing to climb, Children’s Hospital Colorado’s guidelines require all attendees at in-person events to be vaccinated. This includes staff and campers.*

14th Annual A-Basin Fire Hose Race
We are excited to announce that the Fire Hose Race is back! Presented and hosted by BCER, the 14th annual race will be held on Friday, February 25, 2022, at Arapahoe Basin! The Fire Hose Race consists of 30 teams of five skiers each spaced along a 50’ fire hose working as a team to maneuver through a 15-gate giant slalom course. Along with carrying the hose, each team member is required to wear a bunker coat and a fire helmet. Each team completes two runs, and the fastest overall single run time will win the event and is awarded the Fire Hose Race Trophy! This year’s Fire Hose Race once again benefits the Children’s Hospital Colorado Children’s Burn Camps Program. Watch our website and your Inbox for updates and ways to register.
Give Joy
All of us at the Burn Camps Program wish you and your family health, happiness, and joy this holiday season. It’s not too late to share the joy of the season with campers and their families here at the Children’s Hospital Colorado. Click here to donate in the name of a friend or family member. The most meaningful gift you can give to a loved one in their honor is bringing joy and critical resources to burn survivors. Thank you for giving the gift of joy to our campers and families when they need it the most.
