BURN CAMP NEWS AND UPDATES
Summer Burn Camp Update
Back in March, we told you of the passing of Mac Corley, a beloved friend and camp volunteer. Mac loved Burn Camp, Cheley Colorado Camp in Estes Park, and fishing. He spent hours patiently teaching our campers how to fish every summer. In his honor, we created the Mac Corley Memorial Fishing Derby and trophy to go along with it. We bought all campers who fished this summer bucket hats, Mac’s signature look.

We were incredibly fortunate to host 50 kids at Cheley Children’s Colorado Summer Burn Camp in August. The week was amazing, and it was great for campers and staff alike to be back together again. Because of COVID-19, we split campers up into smaller cohorts. The results were that the campers who attended this year created very tight bonds. 2021 Summer Burn Camp had a little bit of everything, horseback riding, hiking, mountain biking, fishing, singing songs, playing with purpose, and even snow!

Winter Camp | February 2022
We are excited to announce that Winter Camp will be held February 7 – 11, 2022, in Steamboat Springs, CO! Teens who have shown an interest in participating in camp beyond just the summer are given the opportunity to attend Winter Burn Camp. Participants spend their days shredding the snow and learning new skills and tricks. In the evening, the group heads back to the Steamboat Grand Lodge to relax in the hot tub and get ready for the evening’s activity. Burn survivors who have attended the Cheley Children’s Hospital Colorado Summer Burn Camp or been nominated through our partnership with Parkland Hospital and I-Thonka-Chi, are eligible to attend. Young Adult Retreat | October 2021
We have a few camper spots left for our upcoming Young Adult Retreat. This year’s theme is Connect and Empower and will be held October 28 – 31, 2021 in Evergreen, CO. This retreat-style learning experience is designed to identify and address unique areas of young adulthood transitions and develop life skills useful to burn survivors, ages 18-25. The program includes recreational activities and various workshops to address topics including relationships, body image, goal setting, and developing a personal mission statement.

If you are between the ages of 18 and 25, have attended the Cheley Children's Hospital Colorado Summer Burn Camp, and are interested in attending the Young Adult Retreat in October, please email us at: youngadult@noordinarycamps.org.
New Website
As we continue to look for additional ways to keep our Burn Camp community updated quickly and accurately, we took on the completed a refresh of our website. We enlisted the help of a small company out of Lakewood, Colorado, Blue Fruit, who did an amazing job of encapsulating all things Burn Camp in the build and design of the new website. We’ve added additional content and our designer created a series of collages that represent the essence of camp. Check it out here! We hope you like it as much as we do!
