(New) Reminder!! Companies with Woman-Owned Small Business self-certification, the new portal becomes live on July 15! Make sure you have your files downloaded from the SBA repository and be ready to certify on the new portal.
PPP UPDATE
Paycheck Protection Program Application Deadline to Be Extended (New)

The House of Representatives and Senate have passed a bill that would extend the deadline to apply for the Paycheck Protection Program to August 8, 2020. The President is expected to sign the bill shortly. There is approximately $135 billion still available through the program. Contact your lender to apply.
RAMP UP TO REOPEN
Phase 4 Reopening (New)

The Mohawk Valley region is currently in Phase 4 reopening. Businesses and organizations included in Phase 4 must read and affirm the detailed guidelines for their industry.

New York Forward Child Care Expansion Incentive Program (New)

$65 million in federal CARES Act funding is available for child care providers statewide through the New York Forward Child Care Expansion Incentive Program. The funding available includes:

  • $20 million to assist childcare programs with reopening and expansion of capacity by providing materials to support a more socially distant model, and for supplies and activities associated with reopening and expansion. This may include partitions, short term rental of space, etc.
  • $45 million in childcare reopening and expansion incentive funds to pay for 50% of the cost of a newly opened classroom (maximum grant amount of $6,000) as an incentive to open the classroom. The temporary funds will phase out over the second and third months as more parents bring their children back into childcare.

USDA Adds Digital Options for Farmers and Ranchers to Apply for Coronavirus Food Assistance Program (New)

USDA’s Farm Service Agency announced that it will now accept applications for the Coronavirus Food Assistance Program (CFAP) through an online portal, expanding the options available to producers to apply for this program, which helps offset price declines and additional marketing costs because of the coronavirus pandemic. FSA is also leveraging commercial document storage and e-signature solutions to enable producers to work with local service center staff to complete their applications from home.
Oneida County Shop Small Business Week
June 29 - July 4

Oneida County in partnership with Mohawk Valley EDGE, the Greater Utica Chamber of Commerce, Rome Chamber of Commerce, the Chamber Alliance of the Mohawk Valley and Oneida County Tourism will designate the week of June 29th as "Shop Small Business Week."
It’s easy for you to participate and win great local prizes… all you have to do is shop small and share a photo of your loot using #loyaltolocal315.
Oneida County Microenterprise Program

Mohawk Valley EDGE has announced the Oneida County Microenterprise Program. Grants from $5,000 to $35,000 are available.

  • Businesses must be in the manufacturing, warehousing and distribution, agri-business, high-tech, research and development and traditional and innovative small business sectors
  • Must employ five or fewer employees, including the business owner(s)
  • Must be located within Oneida County, but outside of the CDBG entitlement cities of Utica and Rome
  • Project must result in either the creation or retention of jobs which are available to low- to moderate income (LMI) persons as defined by Office of Community Renewal guidelines
  • Applicant must present a reasonable likelihood for long-term viability based upon issues such as feasibility, marketability, management, competition, and capitalization
  • Funds must be used for the purchase of capital assets such as machinery and equipment, or working capital
  • Utilization of funds must be eligible pursuant to the guidelines governing the CDBG program
