City of Mulberry Emergency Meeting CANCELLED for this evening

This email will serve as notice that the emergency Mulberry City Council meeting tentatively planned for this evening at 6:30pm at Calvary Chapel has been cancelled.

We have heard the concerns of one of the candidates from District 5, and although we disagree with the legal conclusions and feel strongly that the called emergency meeting is legal under the Mulberry Charter and Georgia law, we as the city council-elect want to demonstrate to our city's residents that we are committed to starting this city on the right foot without needing to fight another lawsuit from Gwinnett County or a Gwinnett County employee.

It still is imperative that the City of Mulberry council members begin meeting immediately given the pending litigation, the December 4th hearing in Fulton County, and the expected lawsuits to be filed against the current council members. These legal matters, among others, must be addressed before the certification of the District 5 runoff in mid-December, but we still plan to invite both candidates from District 5 to attend all our meetings and speak with the current council members.

Therefore, the four council members-elect plan to call another meeting in the next week and will provide notice beyond what is required by Georgia law to avoid unnecessary litigation.
