:: Healthy Families Accreditation

Celebrating a Big Milestone for Our Home Visiting Team!

Did you know?

CAPACares has been supporting parents from the very beginning. In our early days, in addition to staffing a parenting helpline, volunteers visited new moms in the hospital to offer encouragement and resources. These grassroots efforts were the foundation of what is now our home visiting program.

Today, our home visiting team provides families with personalized, in-home support using evidence-based curricula. As an affiliate of Healthy Families America since 2017, we've been proud to uphold high standards in promoting healthy parent-child relationships. We’re thrilled to share that our home visiting program has now achieved full accreditation through Healthy Families! This is a major accomplishment that reflects the commitment, expertise, and heart our team brings to every family they serve.

Congratulations to Mindy, Ellie, and Alena for this well-earned achievement!

:: Funder Feature

Children's Services Fund

CAPACares has proudly partnered with the Children’s Services Fund of Jackson County (CSF) since its inception. CSF was established by voter-approved sales tax, which went into effect in April 2017, to support local organizations that champion children’s mental health and social‑emotional wellness. CAPACares was part of the task force that raised awareness and advocated for CSF’s creation, and we've received CSF funding since the very beginning.

That support has been crucial in funding our counseling services and community‑based prevention education programs. Most recently, that support has enabled us to expand our counseling program, hire our first full‑time community educator, and launch our first fully school‑based therapist position.

In addition, CAPACares serves alongside CSF as members of the Collective Action for Children, working together with other organizations across the metro to promote child safety and well‑being across the Kansas City area.
