A Night to Remember at The Madrid Theatre

What an unforgettable evening we shared at The Madrid Theatre for CAPACares’ 50th Anniversary Celebration! From the laughter echoing across the room to the heartfelt conversations shared between old friends and new supporters, the night was a beautiful tribute to five decades of service, hope, and community.

We are deeply grateful for the incredible support shown by both long-time champions of our mission and so many new friends who joined us for the first time. Your presence and generosity remind us that the work we do—supporting children and families affected by trauma—is possible because we never stand alone.

The celebration was filled with joy and playfulness as guests danced the night away, tested their skills at carnival games like the ring toss, and delighted in the whimsical sweet-treat bar. The silent auction was a highlight of the evening—full of exciting items and friendly competition, all in the spirit of giving and fun.

Beyond the festivities, this night gave us the opportunity to form new connections, share our mission, and introduce more people to the life-changing services CAPACares provides. Watching our community grow—in passion, compassion, and commitment—was truly inspiring.

To every person who attended, volunteered, planned, donated, or supported in any way: thank you. Your time, your talents, and your treasures made this milestone celebration possible. Because of you, CAPACares is ready to continue this important work for the next 50 years and beyond.

Join Us for Baskets of Hope 2025!

It’s that time of year again, Baskets of Hope is here! This annual CAPACares tradition brings families together through simple moments of connection and joy. We’re hoping to collect at least 200 baskets filled with items that foster family togetherness: board games, a deck of cards, popcorn, and a cozy blanket, etc. Round it all off with a pizza gift card and a grocery store or Walmart gift card, and you’ve provided a family with an evening to remember.

Basket drop-off will take place December 1-5 at either CAPACares location. Together, we can help the families we serve end the year with the most important gift of all: time together.

If you plan to participate, please email Kat so we can track our progress toward our 200+ basket goal and share important details with you!

Celebrating Our Home Visiting Team!

We’re proud to share that Ellie, Mindy, and Alena have each earned endorsement from the Missouri Association for Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health (MOAIMH-EC) as Infant Family Specialists.

This recognition reflects their deep knowledge and skill in supporting the emotional development and well-being of babies and young children. Through a relationship-based approach, they empower caregivers to better understand and nurture their child’s mental health.

Please join us in congratulating Mindy, Alena, and Ellie for this incredible achievement!

Menorah Heritage Foundation

Blue and white Menorah Heritage Foundation logo

The Menorah Heritage Foundation (MHF) was formed in April 2016 to support organizations and programs that improve the health and well-being of the greater Kansas City area. They've supported CAPACares via unrestricted operations grants since 2017. Grants like these help us keep the lights on—literally!

The Menorah Heritage Foundation continues a legacy that began nearly 100 years ago with Menorah Hospital, which provided compassionate medical care to Kansas City families. Today, they carry that mission forward by investing in programs that create meaningful, lasting impact. MHF and its predecessors have distributed more than $75 million to local organizations since 1994.
