:: 2024 Giving Tuesday and Baskets of Hope
Help Spread Joy to CAPA Families
| | |
|
|
Get ready to spread some joyβit's almost time for Baskets of Hope! This year, Giving Tuesday is in December, so we're doubling the impact by bringing Baskets of Hope and Giving Tuesday together. We're calling on our awesome supporters to donate baskets for Baskets of Hope as part of their Giving Tuesday plans.
There are three ways to participate:
- Donate a basket, or organize a collection drive.
-
Purchase ready-made baskets from our wish list.
- Provide a monetary gift to supplement smaller baskets.
| |
For those looking to make an even bigger impact, we're seeking $500 and $1000 sponsors to provide supplemental gift cards for baskets going to larger families.

Wisdom from Our Recent Retreatο»Ώ
| |
On Friday, September 13, 2024, CAPA staff and board members gathered for a bi-annual DEIB Retreat. We were introduced to the idea of cultural humility and how it differs from cultural competence. Cultural humility is an ongoing process of self-reflection and learning, where individuals acknowledge their own cultural biases and actively seek to understand and respect others' cultural perspectives. Unlike cultural competence, which focuses on acquiring knowledge and skills about different cultures, cultural humility emphasizes a lifelong commitment to openness and recognizing that we can never fully master another culture. It fosters genuine relationships, reduces power imbalances, and promotes inclusivity in diverse settings.
