:: Keep KC Kids Safe

September is Baby Safety Month

September is Baby Safety Month, a perfect time to focus on creating a safe environment for your little ones.

Here are a few practical tips to keep young children in your life safe:

  • Secure Furniture: Prevent tipping by anchoring heavy furniture, like dressers and bookshelves, to the wall.
  • Check for Hazards: Keep small objects, sharp items, and cords out of reach to avoid choking, cuts, or strangulation.

  • Safe Sleep Practices: Always place babies on their backs to sleep in a crib with a firm mattress and no loose bedding.

Charlie's House is a local expert in child safety education. They offer valuable resources and tools to help you create a safer environment for your family. Visit their website for more detailed information, including opportunities to tour their safety demonstration house, and safety checklists and supplies.

Giving Tuesday + Baskets of Hopeο»Ώ

Get ready to spread some joyβ€”it's almost time for Baskets of Hope! This year, Giving Tuesday is in December, so we're doubling the impact by bringing Baskets of Hope and Giving Tuesday together. We're calling on our awesome supporters to donate baskets for Baskets of Hope as part of their Giving Tuesday plans.

For those looking to make an even bigger difference, we're seeking $500 and $1000 sponsors to provide supplemental gift cards for baskets going to larger families. Reach out to Kat Hellige, Development Specialist, for more information. It's a great way to kick off the holiday season with kindness and generosity!
