Superintendent, Dr. Walters, is calling on Black Men to spread the love by showing Pittsburgh that Black Men Read

Maya Angelou once said, “Words mean more than what is set down on paper. It takes the human voice to infuse them with shades of deeper meaning.” On Thursday, February 29, Black male leaders will bring words to life for our youngest readers as part of Black Men Read. Taking place at 35 schools across the District, Black Men Read aims to encourage a love of reading and promote literacy for our students while also countering negative narratives related to Black men. As part of Black Men Read, leaders from across the city will read to students in grades K-2 on Thursday, February 29, from 9:30 – 11:00 AM, demonstrating that Black men care about the outcomes and experiences of Pittsburgh’s children.

skeleton crew by dominique morisseau

"At the start of the Great Recession in 2008, one of the last auto stamping plants in Detroit is on shaky ground and a tight knit family of workers hangs in the balance. With uncertainty everywhere, the line between blue collar and white collar becomes blurred, and this working family must reckon with their personal loyalties, their instincts for survival and their ultimate hopes for humanity. Powerful and tense, Skeleton Crew is the third of Dominique Morisseau's Detroit cycle trilogy."

Congratulations to CAPA Theater Teacher,

Mr. Cavanaugh, for his role in a world premier musical at Pittsburgh's CLO - The Perfect Mate

WHAT IF WHEN YOU'RE READY FOR TRUE LOVE YOU COULD DESIGN YOUR PERFECT MATE? Joan Sweete has always been drawn to the old-fashioned idea of true love with one person, which puts her at odds with the wild west of romance in 2063. When she's chosen to try out the Perfect Mate, an emotionally savvy humanoid partner, she thinks she has found her match – but it turns out perfection isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. An original musical rom-com of the future born from Pittsburgh CLO's SPARK Festival. This show contains adult content.
