A Letter from the President - Winter 2017
While winter on Cape Cod is darker and bleaker then other places, perhaps because of how fantastic the other seasons are, we are fortunate to be in the middle a period of high activity with the Cape Cod and Islands Scouting. I am pleased to share that the winter doldrums are not a concern with us!
First, please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Frank Geishecker and I am your newly- elected Council President. Together with Executive Vice President
, Bill LaRuffa and Council Commissioner
, Elaine Mason, we are privileged to assist our professional staff in leading our Council to new and greater heights. We are all very thankful to outgoing President, Dennis Walczewski and the strong leadership he provided over the past two years. I am also honored to introduce our new District Committee Chair, Jim Saffle and Vice Chair, John Poole. Jim and John will continue their work in providing the outstanding events and programs our Council has come to know.
During the third weekend of January, the Council's annual Klondike welcomed over 100 Boy Scouts to showcase their skills and the results were outstanding! Congratulations to all who participated and thanks to the numerous leaders who dedicated their weekend to ensure a successful event.
One of the most exciting and meaningful months in the Scouting Calendar is February. From Scout Sunday
, to the Birthday of Cub Scouting
, with numerous Blue and Gold Banquets, February is a great month for Scouting.
Please share with us your news and program highlights. We would greatly enjoy hearing about your winter camping adventures, as well as training and advancement news. You can send the information to:
mary.suchopar@scouting.org.
Have a great season and thanks for your continued support of our communities through Scouting.
Yours in Scouting,
Frank Geishecker, President
