Over the years, Capital University has developed a positive relationship with the media for both our subject-matter expertise and our ability to respond quickly to requests for interviews. But interacting with the media can make for sweaty palms, dry mouths, and the uncomfortable “ummm…” if you’re not used to facing a reporter. This CELT session is designed for faculty, administrators, and staff who want to learn basic tips for increasing their levels of comfort, confidence, and control during an interview.
Thursday, Oct. 5

Explore Your Personal Brand
Are you starting your search for internships or full-time positions and are looking to positively promote yourself? The concept of brand management isn’t limited to a product or a service.
The Institute for Creative Studies at Work, a collaboration between Capital University and Columbus College of Art and Design, will hold a workshop on personal branding to explore how to manage it in a way that will make you stand out in the search for a new job, in networking circles, and in the workplace.
Wednesday, Oct. 4
6 to 7:30 p.m.
Columbus College of Art & Design
During this presentation, we will explore:
- What is in a brand and why management of a brand is key to success.
- How to manage a brand:
- On Paper – From cover letters to resumes to emails to notes, you will learn why written communication needs to be tailored and sincere.
- In Person – Your attire, body language, facial expressions, and social interactions say more than you think. Learn how to polish your in-person presence.
- Online – Social media, news articles, and other online sources have a lasting impact on your brand. Discover how to manage what you can control and what you can’t.
- Why mentors and a network of professionals can help you launch your brand for maximum impact.
At the end of this presentation, you will leave with tools to implement changes to your personal brand and ideas on how to expand your network.

For those who are undecided, the following committees will benefit from more volunteers. You can fill out the Qualtrics form here.

- Community Service: This committee assists with developing service opportunities around the event, creating partnerships for opportunities, gathering volunteer service teams, and corresponding with Logistics and Hospitality for assessment and gratitude of our partnerships.
- Marketing/Communication: This subcommittee assists with creating the marketing plan for the campus and the community (Columbus, Bexley, churches, social justice and diversity organizations), designing the fliers/imagery, campuswide email invitations, social media marketing, and advertisement.

Access Increased to Student Medical Services
Over the last several years, Capital’s model of providing medical care has evolved to respond to student needs and feedback. On Monday, Sept. 18, we increased access to the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center providers near campus and around the city.
This change is due to student feedback that could not provide a high enough level of care for student needs with the current model of RN care in Capital’s Center for Health and Wellness. To address this need, we developed a new plan allowing Capital students access to OSU’s vast array of healthcare options, including Same-Day Care and Urgent Care facilities. This shift also increases the ease of connection to specialists in the OSU system.
-
To schedule an appointment at OSU for any services, including Same Day Care and Urgent Care, please access the link here to self-schedule or to get phone number information to the contact center. https://wexnermedical.osu.edu/healthcare-services.
- For assistance in scheduling same-day or urgent care appointments, or to secure transportation for students who need it to get to their appointments, please contact the CHW at 614-236-6114 during regular business hours.
Behavioral Health/ Counseling Services
Services for counseling through behavioral health will remain unchanged. You can continue to schedule those appointments by calling or emailing the CHW.
For more information, see the email you received on Sept. 15 from Capital Communications, or call, email or visit the website:
